There are a number of borders that can be used if travelling to Costa Rica by road, with Penas Blancas offering the most-used connection between Nicaragua and Costa Rica, and the south offering three different routes through Panama – Paso Canoas, Sixaola and Rio Sereno. A national driver’s license or International Driving Permit is required documentation.
